The Longest Yarn 2, Britain at War

I visited the Chiltern Open Air Museum with my wife and two of my granddaughters yesterday. I really enjoyed the day, but there was, for me, another amazing and unexpected treat in store.

It was 'The Longest Yarn 2, Britain at War'' display, which was a superb 'knitted' chronicle, or 'yarn' of the Second World War, all in knitted or crocheted form!

I can say that, as a military historian and speaker, I was blown away and in total awe with what I saw. The artisans responsible for creating this work had superbly recreated key moments, from the declaration of war to the celebrations that followed the final victory. There was even a scene depicting the Battle Of Britain Bunker, where I volunteer.

I would really recommend a visit, it is leaving the Chiltern Open Air Museum soon but for more information and where else it can be seen can be found here thelongestyarn.com .

After all, I wouldn't pull the wool over your eyes, would I?
